Yoon Eun-hye’s agency shuts down rumors of actor’s involvement with Kim Jong-kook
The two starred in the SBS reality show X-Menaired between 2003 and 2007. On the show, the “love line” between Yoon Eun-hye and Kim Jong-kook was very popular, sparking rumors of a past affair.
Yoon Eun-hye and Kim Jong-kook both mentioned shortened “messages” in the latter, sparking speculation.
Speculation flared up again with the actor uploading a video to his YouTube channel, Yoon Eun Hye’s Eunhyelogin, on May 17. In the video, the actor opened up about his experiences with an ex-boyfriend.
“Most men text a lot at the start of a relationship, but they start to text less over time. That’s why women can’t help but be upset after becoming unhappy. It’s worth better not do something you can’t do.” continue later.
She gave the example of her ex-boyfriend, who would have acted in the same way.
“I wrote down all the messages my boyfriend sent me every day in a little notebook and gave it to him so he wouldn’t send long messages right from the start. He’s also a good person. He apologized after seeing how his posts became shorter.
After watching the clip, many fans of Yoon Eun-hye and Kim Jong-kook’s alleged relationship were quick to bring up a clip from another variety show, My little old boy, released in February 2018.
On the show, Kim Jong-kook mentioned an ex-girlfriend after finding letters from her in his attic. He said,
“There was a time when my girlfriend would handwrite all the messages I sent her every day and give them to me. She used to call me ‘Prince’.
What sealed the deal was that he mentioned that his “messages” were getting “shorter and shorter,” much like Yoon Eun-hye’s description.
“My messages got shorter and shorter. Later, I only sent “I’m going to the gym”.
The YouTube video in question was deleted shortly after the controversy began. While many believed it was due to the rumorsYoon Eun-hye herself clarified that this was not the case:
“I inevitably deleted the video I recently uploaded because there was a problem with the file after uploading.”
Soon, the actor’s agency also released a statement announcing that the deletion had nothing to do with Kim Jong Kook.
“[Deleting the video] has no connection with Kim Jong Kook. In the case of the YouTube video, there have been numerous issues, and since we’ve been uploading a video every week for over a year, we’ve determined that we need a rest period, so we’re in the process of to recheck [the video] and prepare for season 2.
The agency reiterated that the two weren’t romantically involved, and they never were, but were careful to remind everyone that the deletion had nothing to do with rumors.
“This has nothing to do with the issue in question, and even before the video was released, there were also issues with the upload date and internal circumstances. The video was uploaded in this state, but the video itself also had issues, so we took it down ahead of time. It was never because an article about a past relationship appeared. It’s just a coincidence.”
Although the denial of the relationship rumors is compelling, many fans are still hoping for a Yoon Eun-hye and Kim Jong-kook reunion.
Yoon Eun-hye was last seen on JTBC variety show Cook King: Birth of the king of the kitchen, while singer Kim Jong-kook appears regularly on SBS Running Man.
