The United States Women’s National Team is striking again.
The Americans dropped their third straight tournament Thursday night, falling 2-1 to Germany after losses to England and Spain in October.

It was particularly poignant, as second-half substitute Megan Rapinoe equalized at the death, only to see Germany regain the lead almost immediately:

While neither Germany, England nor Spain are pushovers by any stretch of the imagination, the USWNT is not used to losing streaks regardless of competition. It was the nation’s first three-game losing streak in nearly 30 years.

🇺🇸 #USWNTsnapped its 71-game home unbeaten streak. It was the 2nd-longest in team history.
🇺🇸 US has lost three straight games for the first time since 1993.
🇺🇸 Has conceded multiple goals in three consecutive games for the US. First time since 2001.
So as you might expect, outrage was high on Twitter after the match, and much of it was directed at manager Vlatko Andonovski:
It’s time for Vlatko Andonovski to go. #USWNT

Injuries and Vlatko’s coaching.. This is not a championship team #uswnt

I don’t think this game was a tactical disaster or anything, it was something that was missing something that was elusive for a while and imo seems to be on the mental/power side. #uswnt

Sigh. this #USWNT The team has many problems. Love their fight. They always fight. But something has to change. They are simply not sharp. Don’t know where they find the answer at the moment..
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what’s going on with this current iteration of the USWNT. There is no doubt that there is a transition from many tried and true veterans to a young and highly talented next generation.
There’s also the fact that the rest of the world is just starting to close the gap on the United States in the women’s game.
But it’s hard to completely dismiss the possibility that Andonovski isn’t currently resonating with his players or that his current tactics aren’t getting the job done. Something is wrong, and when a team has as much talent as this squad, the blame usually rests on the manager.
Andonovski has a few days before the U.S. and Germany tangle again on Sunday at 5 p.m. ET. If the U.S. loses a fourth straight, Andonovsky’s seat could be little more than hot.
