The following is a brief transcript of Sunday’s teleconference.

Opening Statement: “A good game by our guys. I’m proud of our guys. Offensively, another fast start. Back-to-back games where we had good balance. We had a couple of big drops but did a good job with penalties. We just controlled the game. We We were 14 of 19 on third down. We scored 100-percent in the red zone. I thought DJ. Did a great job, as did Mitchell is coming Outside of the third quarter where we had a turnover fest, we were very tight. Lots of good stuff in the game.

“Defensively, we were dominant. 98 total yards and only eight carries and 40 yards came in one game. We won the line of scrimmage. It was back-to-back games where we dominated the quarterback. We made more takeaways. We were clean on penalties. Our There were a few serious mistakes and some bruises that we need to clean up. I liked the team effort against a team that got a big win. A fun night. A good grade to tape.

“We have to focus on this game now. Thanksgiving changes our routine a little bit. We have a big challenge ahead of us.”

Q: Did you see the coverage bust?

Sweeney: “It was on you are beating. He read the wrong signal. We were lucky there. hand Had a one-on-one block with the guard and beat him up. Just a missed signal.”

Q: The way South Carolina blew out Tennessee last night will create some intrigue this week. For your players and how they see the game?

Sweeney: “It doesn’t matter what your records are or what you’re bringing. This is a game where you throw everything away. It’s about this game. It’s about what you did last year or throughout this nine years. It’s about how you play these four quarters. College football, as you saw yesterday, is unpredictable. It’s hard to win. It’s the biggest game of the year and a season of its own. It’s a goal of its own. It’s a fun game to be a part of. I’ve been a part of a lot of rivalry games. It’s about getting ready. A fun week for and a game where both teams will apply everything they have to find a way to win.”

Q: Any further clarification Marcus Tate?

Non-football-related and closed topics

Sweeney: “He’ll be out. We’ve got good news and bad news. His ACL is fine, but there’s like a ligament or a tendon … that’s where he’s injured. He’s going to have to have surgery to fix it. He’ll be fine. The bad news is he will be out for us. I’m happy for him that he’s played 11 games and he’s still a young player who’s grown a lot this year. He’s got a lot of confidence and played a lot faster and stronger than last year. He can also play tackle for us. It’s Unfortunate that his season was cut short but blessed that he had the same year.”

Q: How did you grade Mitchell Mays yesterday? And nothing changes with it Colin Sadler?

Sweeney: “Mitchell has done well. He’s basically started back-to-back games and we’ve had over 400 yards in each of the last two games. He’s done a great job. I’m glad he’s had that experience. Got to play a ton of snaps. Good for him. . I’m glad we got those two guys in there late. As far as Sadler, we’re definitely going to play him as much as we need to, but we’ll try to keep him if we can. We’ve got one game left.

Q: Tate’s return schedule?

Sweeney: “He’ll be back in spring practice but he’ll probably wear a green jersey and do something personal. I don’t think he’ll be scrimmaging or going full speed in the spring.”

Q: What did you think of South Carolina’s offensive outburst last night? Were you able to see anything in it?

Sweeney: “I got a good look at it after I got home last night. It’s a tough place to go and play. Their quarterback was great. Momentum is a powerful thing. They played a complete game in all phases. Tennessee, it just wasn’t their night. . You have to give South Carolina all the credit for that. Their quarterback was outstanding. A lot of big plays.”

Q: your thoughts Jeremiah Trotter last night? Especially the PBU game?

Sweeney: “He read it (the PBU) but got a little flat. He did a great job of rebounding and defending. He’s a really good player, as we hoped he would be. He’s playing with a lot of confidence and starting to be one of the guys for us. Become a leader.”

Q: You mentioned it Spencer Rattler. What’s different about him from other films you’ve seen him in not just last night but this year?

Sweeney: “I saw him when he was at Oklahoma. He was a highly-recruited guy. He throws well on the move. He’s a really good football player. That’s why he was the starter at Oklahoma and as highly-recruited as he is. About the quarterback you He’s got everything he likes. He’s got a great arm and he’s a competitor.”

Q: does Beaux Come back this week?

Sweeney: “We’re hopeful. It’s still day-to-day. He was close last week.”
