It comes after BBC bosses last week denied Rachel’s claims that Strictly Come Dancing is a solution and that the winner is chosen by the bosses.

Rachel, 36, was a celebrity contestant on Strictly in 2013 where she was paired with future husband Pasha Kovalev, 42.

The countdown presenter was dropped from the show in week five, in part because she was an inexperienced dancer.

Talk to The Sunday TimesRachel described the BBC show as “very produced” and said bosses knew what “balance” they wanted among the contestants.

She said: “I think they know from the start who they want to win and what trips they want to take different people on, to get the balance right, and they can obviously set the scores.”

“I think the Brits want an underdog. We want to train someone, not see someone who is good from the start – that’s not what these programs are about.

The TV star felt she suffered from a mild form of post-traumatic stress disorder after appearing on the show.

She said: “It’s a really intense time. I had insecurities about my dancing because your whole self-esteem is built around it. And you have this team mentality, and then you suddenly get dumped. It continues but you have been put in the trash.

Rachel said she had a lot of fun being on the show, but the years that followed were “difficult” and added that some contestants were left with mental “misalignment”.

Denying Rachel’s claims, a spokesperson for Strictly said: ‘This claim is categorically false. The BBC has strict editorial procedures and guidelines in place for impartiality and strictly adheres to them.

Elsewhere during the interview, Rachel dismissed speculation that her romance with Pasha Kovalev was an example of the notorious “strict curse.”

Rachel was previously married to Jamie Gilbert from whom she separated after 16 months and then started dating Pasha.

The presenter said that if you have any cracks in your relationship, Strictly can expose them and added that the show gave her the distance to make the rift that would have happened anyway.

Strictly’s most recent series was won by EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis and her dance partner Giovanni Pernice.

This year’s series features changes to the dance lineup as Oti Mabuse and Aljaz Skorjanec left the show.
