Qiagen acquires DNA-biometrics agency Verogen in $150 million deal

(Reuters) – Life sciences agency Qiagen stated on Monday it has acquired DNA-biometrics agency Verogen in a $150-million money deal, strengthening its forensics portfolio.

The deal builds on the businesses’ current partnership from 2021, beneath which Qiagen has the rights to distribute a few of Verogen’s merchandise comparable to its next-generation gene sequencing panels and genetic code analyzing expertise GEDmatch.

Qiagen expects about $20 million of gross sales from the Verogen portfolio this 12 months. The deal is predicted to be dilutive to Qiagen’s 2023 adjusted revenue per share by about 3 cents and impartial to the agency’s 2024 revenue.

San Diego-based Verogen, based in 2017, supplies DNA-based human identification services and products, that are utilized in forensic evaluation and to assist resolve prison and lacking individuals circumstances.
