Premier League predictions: Jones Knows predicts wins for Man City, Tottenham and Leicester | Soccer News
Our tipster Jones Knows is back to preview a massive midweek of Premier League football and backs relegation-threatened Leeds to secure a draw at home to Chelsea.
Leeds vs Chelsea, Wednesday 7.30pm, live on Sky Sports
On Sunday, Leeds fell into the relegation zone for the first time since October 30. The days of Bielsa’s beautiful ball are long gone. Now it’s villain time, win at all costs-bullet.
Jesse Marsch should basically plagiarize the work of Frank Lampard at Everton. Leeds must do to Chelsea what Everton did to Chelsea. To frustrate, to defend well and to take their chances when they present themselves.
That task could be easier than the odds also suggest, with Thomas Tuchel’s side preparing for an FA Cup final despite being in poor form. Eight points from their possible last 21 left them just one point ahead of fourth-placed Arsenal. The Blues still need just four points to secure a Champions League place for next season, but they won’t panic just yet with home games with Leicester and Watford to come after their trip to Wembley.
Markets have set the goal line at around three, which leaves the price below 2.5 around 5/4 a little too big in my view. Chelsea are not the team to score the earliest this season. Just under 50 per cent of Chelsea’s last 13 games have fallen below the under-2.5 goal line while Leeds will focus on keeping things ultra-tight at the back in a bid to get a result.
SCORE PREDICTION: 1-1 | BETTING ANGLE: Under 2.5 goals (5/4 with Sky Bet – Bet Here!)
Watford v Everton, Wednesday 7.45pm
With absolutely nothing at stake for Watford’s bar pride, which has failed to provide motivation for most of the season so it seems unlikely to be generated now, Everton simply need to be supported. The problem is that a lot of people are thinking the same way and the price of an away win has plummeted. I think we can be greedy though and raise that price to 5/2 with Sky Bet backing Everton to win by one goal. No Premier League side have lost more games by just one goal than the Hornets with 12 shrinking one-goal loss margins. Meanwhile, Everton’s last three wins under Frank Lampard have been by the odd goal.
SCORE PREDICTION: 0-1 | BETTING ANGLE: Everton win by one goal (5/2 with Sky Bet – Bet Here!)
Leicester v Norwich, Wednesday 7.45pm
You’re planning to skip this match, aren’t you? The dead rubber of all dead rubbers. But these end-of-season affairs with nothing at stake tend to produce a lot of action because the players have a lot more freedom to express themselves without any danger on the line. Leicester have the attacking players to activate the style against the Premier League’s worst defense but also offer opportunities at the other end. Their games have seen an average of 3.09 goals scored per 90 minutes – only Leeds, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool have averaged more.
With a potentially goal-heavy game expected, sustaining play to produce more than 3.5 goals at 6/4 will do just fine.
SCORE PREDICTION: 3-1 | BETTING ANGLE: Return on 3.5 goals (6/4 with Sky Bet – Bet Here!)
Wolves vs Manchester City, Wednesday 8.15pm, live on Sky Sports
I have a lot in common with most Premier League teams in that Manchester City have a habit of making us look like ignoramuses. In my quest to become an extraordinary player, I’ve advised Pep Guardiola’s boys not to win three times since December, including Sunday against Newcastle. They won those matches by an aggregate score of 16-0. “You get fired tomorrow morning,” sang the Twitter trolls. It was difficult to discuss.
City’s 5-0 win over Newcastle certainly calms their nerves and appears to have put them on the path to a fourth title in five seasons. With the added context of knowing that a draw in one of their next two away games would still leave the title situation in their hands, it’s really hard to argue that this City side are throwing a stench of performance. They are simply too professional and relentless for the Premier League to be their sole focus now. In a game that is likely to be quite tentative – Wolves games this season have averaged just 1.97 goals per 90 minutes, a league low – I’m happy to back City to win without conceding.
SCORE PREDICTION: 0-1 | BETTING ANGLE: Man City to win to zero (10/11 with Sky Bet – Bet Here!)
Tottenham vs Arsenal, Thursday 7.45pm, live on Sky Sports
Arsenal have a clear advantage in the race for the top four, but knowing they can settle for a draw in this spicy encounter could well become a problem. Tottenham have no other choice. It’s victory or failure for them. With so many goals in their side and a manager who usually gets the job done in big games, the case for an 11/10 home win with Sky Bet is easy to make.
Heung-Min Son rewarded our faith in the goalscoring market at Anfield by scoring his 20th Premier League goal of the season and is just two behind Mohamed Salah now in the Golden Boot race. Son ventures into far more dangerous areas than in previous seasons as his partnership with Harry Kane continues to blossom. Arsenal have felt the strength of Son’s goalscoring abilities, conceding the South Korean forward three goals in the last four Premier League meetings. Son has scored in the last two home wins over the Gunners and the 5/2 for him to repeat the trick is a bet worth following.
SCORE PREDICTION: 2-1 | BETTING ANGLE: Heung-Min Son scores and Tottenham wins (5/2 with Sky Bet – Bet Here!)
