Matt Ryan is the starting QB for the Colts in Jeff Saturday’s coaching debut

Asked how he made the decision to start Ehlinger, Saturday said, “I evaluate all the time. I tell those guys, it’s not a closed competition by any stretch of the imagination. I’m going to put the best 11. So whatever we can do to win games, we Will do that. Both have had several weeks of practice. Sam, for a young man, is an energetic guy. He brings a lot of pop. Matt, getting out there as well, I’m impressed.
“It’s going to be up to me who starts at quarterback,” added Saturday, when asked about the perception driving the decision.
