Man, 35, indicted in Pahoa armed theft

Jan. 27—A Hilo grand jury returned an indictment in opposition to a 35-year-old man, charging him in reference to the alleged armed theft of a quick meals restaurant in Pahoa.

The grand jury indicted Rancey S. Okay. Lee Thursday with first-degree theft, first-degree terroristic threatening and second-degree prison trespassing. His bail is ready at $40,000.

Lee is presently being held on the Hawaii Neighborhood Correctional Middle.

Puna patrol officers responded to a report of an armed theft at McDonald’s at Puna Kai Purchasing Middle shortly after 1 p.m. on Jan. 20.

Staff informed police a person carrying a face masks walked into the restaurant close to the kitchen and drive-thru window and demanded cash whereas holding a screwdriver in his left hand and a wrench in his proper hand, Hawaii police stated in court docket paperwork.

Staff screamed and tried to run away from the suspect.

Police stated the suspect ran out of the quick meals restaurant with no cash taken from the institution. No accidents have been reported.

Police situated the suspect, recognized as Lee, strolling on Pahoa Village Highway and arrested him on suspicion of theft.

Officers discovered a pair of scissors and a wrench in his possession on the time of his arrest.
