KK singer may have had heart condition that caused sudden death: sources
The KK singer’s preliminary autopsy report has revealed he may have had underlying heart conditions which caused his sudden death after a performance in Kolkata yesterday, sources say. The report says the iconic singer died of a heart attack, but also mentions a “myocardial infarction”, which could have caused Krishnakumar Kunnath’s heart to stop pumping blood, sources said. If a person suffers from latent heart disease for a long time, he gets a myocardial infarction.
“He had a major blockage in the left main coronary artery and small blockages in various other arteries and sub-arteries. Excessive excitement during the live performance caused a stoppage of blood flow leading to cardiac arrest which cost him life,” said a doctor. the autopsy told the PTI news agency on condition of anonymity.
The late musician’s wife had told police he had pain in his arms and shoulders before coming to Calcutta. The singer also had stomach issues and occasionally took antacids, sources said.
“The singer had an 80% blockage in the left main coronary artery and minor blockages in various other arteries and sub-arteries. None of the blockages were 100%… During Tuesday’s performance, the singer was sometimes walked and danced with the crowd which created excessive excitement which caused a stoppage of blood flow leading to cardiac arrest,” the doctor told PTI.
The doctor said that excessive excitement stopped the blood flow for a few moments, resulting in an irregular heartbeat for a very short time.
“As a result, KK fell unconscious and went into cardiac arrest. If CPR had been administered immediately, the artist could have been saved,” he said.
CPR is an emergency procedure that includes chest compressions as well as mechanical ventilation to manually maintain brain function until further measures are taken to restore normal blood flow and breathing in a person with stroke. cardiac arrest.
The doctor said the autopsy revealed the singer was taking antacids “probably considering pain which he mistook for digestive issues.”
Incidentally, a senior Kolkata police officer revealed that the singer’s wife admitted that KK used to take a lot of antacids.
KK died on Tuesday night from massive cardiac arrest after a live performance at Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata.
The singer’s corpse was brought to his residence in Mumbai this morning where his last rites will be performed today, news agency ANI reported.
The singer died while being taken to hospital after a high-octane performance in a crowded Kolkata auditorium yesterday. Questions have been raised about the alleged lack of ventilation amid the extreme heat during the concert.
Staff at the Nazrul Manch Auditorium in South Kolkata, where KK’s concert took place, said the venue was overcrowded. “Our seating capacity was 2,482, but the crowd was more than double the capacity. The crowd broke the door,” auditorium worker Chandan Maity told ANI.
