Kanye West: Adidas to launch investigation into allegations of inappropriate behavior made against rapper

CNN Business

Adidas will launch an investigation into allegations of misconduct against Kanye West, with whom the company had a partnership that ended in October.

In a statement released Thursday, Adidas said, “It is currently unclear whether the allegations made in an anonymous letter are true. However, we take these allegations very seriously and have decided to immediately launch an independent investigation into the matter to resolve the allegations.”

The statement follows an article in Rolling Stone which reported That Adidas board members ignored inappropriate behavior by the rapper, who Legally changed his name to YeIn partnership with his Yeezy brand.

The Rolling Stones said It received a letter Tuesday from Yeezy’s former high-ranking employees to executive board members saying “the toxic and chaotic environment Kanye West has created.” “This type of response from a brand partner is one that Adidas employees should never be subjected to and Adidas leadership should never tolerate,” the letter said.

Adidas Ended partnership with Ye After he made a series of anti-Semitic comments in recent months. In late October, West addressed the antisemitic comments — as well as what he said about George Floyd and Black Lives Matter — in a 16-minute video. Shared by WMGLab Records on YouTube and apparently recorded sometime after he ended his business relationship with Adidas.

“I think Adidas felt like everyone was jumping on me that they just had the right to take my designs,” West told a small crowd.

In the video, West did not apologize for his anti-Semitic comments but appeared to be trying to distance himself from any “hate groups.”

“I have no affiliation with any hate group,” West said as he closed his remarks with a prayer. “If any hatred befalls a Jewish person, it is not linked (to the gesture towards oneself) because I demand that everyone should walk in love.”

Adidas has partnered with West since 2013, when the company signed his brand away from rival Nike. In 2016, Adidas expanded its relationship with the rapper, calling it “the most important partnership ever made between a non-athlete and an athletic brand”.

West does not currently have an attorney or publicist representing him in this matter.
