Capitals beat Flyers 3-2 (OT).

The Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers enter Wednesday night’s action both looking to snap extended losing streaks. Only one can float though.

Morgan Frost sent a weak shot to Darcy Kuemper that the Caps netminder popped up in the air and behind him to stop the scoring. Marcus Johansson hit paydirt on his second try when he shot past Alex Ovechkin on a power play to tie things up. Patrick Brown beat Kuemper with a soft tip to give Philly the go-ahead try.

Sonny Milano tied it late for the Caps. Alex Ovechkin wins overtime!

The Capitals beat the Flyers 3-2!

  • The Capitals have had a really rough time of late in the opening period and it continued into this one. In their last five games, they are 11-1 in the first period. They eventually turned things around, tied the game and probably had more of the positive momentum heading into the first break.
  • The goal they gave up was straight up awful from their netminder. Darcy Kuemper Especially when the team in front of him has trouble putting the puck in the net themselves. He was not at all comfortable to start the game.
  • Marcus Johansson One of those was kicked and called back, and then Alex Ovechkin touched a puck that crossed the goal line and stole one. A really bad game from Mojo/Jojo. to suit.
  • In the second, Kuemper threw in another very weak one and the Caps couldn’t score right away. They had the puck for most of the time but were unable to find the last pass or shot. 11 to 2 scoring chances at five-on-five in the second frame but only the team of 2 managed to get on the board.
  • Nice to see Nicklas Backstrom At the TNT booth. Happy birthday, Nick! Go back as soon as you can, please.
  • What is going to be the final score of the United States match against England on Friday? I’m worried about it, folks. It’s either going to be like 4-1 to England or 1-0 to the good boys. Not in between. Perhaps Berhalter will play Gio Reyna as he should have on Monday.
  • Georgetown should not be allowed to play basketball on the same day as Capitals games. The puck looked like a bouncy ball at some points. One of the major disadvantages of home-ice in the league.
  • i think TJ Oshie His comeback was great. His big play set up Sonny Milano’s tying goal in the third and he also had an assist on Washington’s first goal.
  • John Tortorella Apparently kicked a horse in the face recently. If this happens to me, you won’t see me for the next six months.
  • No. 790 for Alex Ovechkin. What a game-winning shift from him in overtime.
  • I know this has probably been a more negative time in Caps fandom so I’m going to change the narrative a bit in the comments section. Name an obscure Caps player you are grateful for and why. I’ll try and highlight some of my favorites at times.

Happy Thanksgiving! We’ll see the Caps next Friday when the Calgary Flames come to town for their first look at the season
