As an upcoming season is marketed, Amazon & EP & Showrunner Eric Kripkeit is The boys may have had the most meta day ever. After releasing the trailer for the film in a series Dawn of the Seven (The Bourke Cut), the imaginary film and its imaginary director Adam Bourke’s (PJ Byrne) received real-world love and support from non-imaginary people Justice League: The Snyder Cut director Zack Snyder. Then Byrne-as-Bourke responded to Snyder, and… then our eyes started bleeding a bit so we had to stop thinking about it. But it’s a new day, and with it comes some other cool stuff that’s been released. First, we have the official website of Dawn of the Seven upload (check this here) as well as a new poster and key character profile art posters of the Seven. But first, we thought we’d honor your Saturday by taking a look at Karl Urban (Butcher) and Jensen Ackles (Soldier Boy) sharing a rickshaw in the UK for a The boys presser. And we think that says something to the two of them that they can make even a pedicab ride badass.

And here is a throwback to the “official trailer” of Dawn of the Seven which was posted earlier today:

Now here’s a look at the official season 3 trailer for Amazon’s The Boys, which will arrive on June 3 (followed by our breakdown and observations):

With the third season hitting screens on June 3, viewers were treated to the official trailer on Monday. After screening it around 23 times, here’s a breakdown of what the trailer had to offer and what it means for the upcoming season. And be sure to let us know in the comments section how brilliant we are…

Well, looks like we’re taking a look at Cameron Coleman (Matthew Edison) new show as Homelander (Antoine Starr) public relations tour to repair his image continues. But as we quickly see (and as Erin Moriarty‘s Starlight puts it so succinctly), “There’s something wrong with Homelander. Something’s broken. He’s lost his mind.” Considering how things were at the end of last season and how he had to be leashed, it’s not that surprising. Although if we needed a refresher, we get that unsettling cow milking scene and Homelander gently stroking a bloodstain he’s standing next to. And then we get a montage of Homelander’s growing madness as a transition to…

…Butcher (Karl Urban), who wakes up from a fever dream to the sound of a kettle. We get Grace’s summary (Laila Robins) on how Butcher got on the right track: not killing supes (although we see him damaging Sean Patrick Flanerie‘s Gunpowder pretty badly), not drinking, and “even followed Hugh Campbell [Jack Quid] commands without killing him. “While Grace sees these as signs that Butcher may not be ‘such an asshole.’ at least for now…

Now this is where we start to get some quick scenes from other storylines, including Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) finally gets the family life he’s wanted for so long. But how will he deal with the fact that his job is to “discipline” the very supes that his idolizing daughter?

From there, we see Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) sharpening her tools and Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) witnessing an uncomfortably brutal exchange between Homelander and A-Train (Jessie T. Usher). But that’s the exchange between Vought leader Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito) and Starlight which was fascinating because it gave us the impression that Edgar is already looking ahead… and Starlight as the new leader of the Seven? I always thought Vought had some sort of genetic “killswitch” that he could flip on Homelander if need be…

Ashley (Colby Minify) alert! And if you were wondering if his life was going to get less stressful this season, look no further than when Homelander decided to knock someone out of the sky to their bloody death before making his next public appearance. And he’s acclaimed for that too! Yeah, Ashley’s face speaks for all of us.

Oh oh ! Something happens and the ‘gloves are off’ because Hughie sees something which leads him to realize that the government route isn’t working and they’re going to have to go ‘old school’ on some supes (and we learned from Karen Fukuhara during his reaction to the trailer for vanity lounge that the guy was killed by a supes-themed dildo).

Ouch. It was a nasty exchange of glances between Claudia DoumitVictoria “Vic” Neuman and Starlight, jaw-dropping congresswoman (literally). But then we learn that there might be another way to “blow Homelander’s fucking brains out” that won’t require Neuman’s particular “talent”… Jensen Ackles‘ Soldier Boy (who clearly has his own anger issues).

From there, we see Butcher fire Compound V to give him the boost he needs to deal with Homelander. We also see a thawed (and now escaped) Soldier Boy lost, confused, and on the run before he (apparently) does serious damage to a building from his power surges.

Once again, Mother’s Milk has to be the voice of reason in reminding Butcher that taking Compound V goes against everything they fought for. But after a scene showing him more than comfortable with his new powers, Butcher says he needs them to level the playing field.

From there we get some quick gun and violence cuts (with bonus points for Laurie Holden‘s Crimson Countess highlighting her powers) before Homelander again references her “true” self to the world (as he did earlier) before offering her own public poll: “I mean, they fucking love me.” From there we get more cuts of action and violence, and let’s just say we’re not big fans of the position that Tomer ChaponSerge alias Frenchie finds himself in it (although the dance number with Kimiko from Fukuhara is superb). And Mother’s Milk breaking the bat on Butcher without him even flinching? Ouch.

And then we cut the credits… but wait! We have a final scene where Butcher and the crew watch an unthawed Soldier Boy stagger from his cryogenic chamber. And it looks like it has a whole ton of pent-up power it needs to burn through fast (makes us think back to that building destroyed earlier). As for Soldier Boy as a “weapon” to defeat Homelander? We can’t help but think that this plan won’t work and that SB and Homelander will have a lot more in common than they think.
