Bill Simmons had the perfect response to Jalen Green
Bill Simmons had the perfect response to Jalen Green
1. As I have already writtenwhen Bill Simmons’ “F— Jalen Green” line became a big thing online, very few people wanted to attach any context to it.
Simmons, on an episode of his Alarm podcast, didn’t say “F—Jalen Green” the person. It read, “F— Jalen Green” as a candidate for the All-Rookie team. It was not a personal attack. This was also said jokingly and not in a serious way. I also explained all this in a recent edition of the IS Media Podcast with Ryan Russillo.
But that is now how it has been presented by everyone who has written about it. It was sold simply as “Bill Simmons Says F—Jalen Green”.
Unsurprisingly, Green caught wind of Simmons’ comment and addressed it Wednesday night after being named to the NBA All-Rookie Team.
Now, it’s impossible to tell from this tweet if Green was addressing Simmons by saying, “F— Jalen Green,” or addressing the fact that he made the All-Rookie team when Simmons said he didn’t deserve it. Or both.
Either way, Simmons offered the perfect answer. I know, for some unknown reason that I can’t figure out, it’s become an online thing to hit Simmons and unload him whenever possible, but I give him credit for responding to Green and for doing so honestly and fairly.
Some people are all pissed off with Simmons’ “fake news aggregators” line, but the truth is that World Wide Web aggregators presented his comment in a way that was not truthful. Simmons’ response was direct and fair.
I also like that Simmons didn’t apologize. In many cases, people simply apologize to apologize, even if they didn’t do anything wrong. It’s good to see that Simmons didn’t go that route.

3. Steph Curry drains a three and dancing is a beautiful thing.
4. Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley argued last night about Jimmy Butler and whether it’s harder to score against big defensive players. At one point, Barkley even dropped a “fool” on Shaq, and it was hilarious.
5. Two great things about this fan who ran onto the field during Wednesday night’s Braves-Brewers game in Milwaukee. First, keep an eye out for Atlanta reliever Kenley Jansen, who doesn’t even flinch when the fan passes by him. Discipline just amazing. Second, how about this guy’s audacity to try and get a high five at home plate from Jace Peterson before he got knocked out.
6. Obviously, after today’s war of words between Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher, CBS will make Texas A&M – Alabama a prime time game on October 8th.
7. RANDOM VIDEO OF THE DAY: It’s amazing how well it worked.
