Aaron Rodgers, Packers surprise the Titans with a TD to end the first quarter
Green Bay, Wis. — five days ago, Christian Watson Had zero touchdown catches. After five quarters of football, he had four.
Watson also had an 8-yard touchdown catch Aaron Rodgers In the third quarter
The last Packers rookie receiver with at least four touchdown catches in a season was James Lofton, who had six in 1978.
And while it’s new for the rookie second-round pick, it comes on a play that’s old hat for Rodgers — whose last five touchdown passes have all gone to Watson.
Rodgers caught the Titans with 12 men on the field and floated the ball to Watson in the left side of the end zone for a contested catch over the cornerback. Christian Fulton.
It was Rodgers’ 17th career touchdown pass on a free play — either defensively offside or with too many men on the field. It was Rodgers’ first touchdown of the season and first since last Christmas Cleveland Browns. No one else has had more than five such touchdowns since 2008.
The Titans blocked the extra point in the second quarter to make it 7-6.
