Authorities are investigating after a number of buildings within the downtown space had been spray painted with hate symbols in a single day.

Portsmouth Police say round 2:30 a.m., an unknown suspect graffitied 10 completely different companies and locations of worship with pink spray paint. The graffiti appeared to deliberately goal holy locations and political messages with hate symbols and swastikas, based on officers.

The suspect might be seen in surveillance photographs carrying a pink sweatshirt with the phrase “Maine” written on the entrance of it.
